Job description
Overview
Brown and Co Solicitors is looking for a qualified Solicitor with at least five years of post-qualification experience specializing in litigation and employment law. The role involves handling a diverse case portfolio within dispute resolution, allowing applicants to focus primarily on litigation or employment matters while supporting broader department needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload comprising litigation and employment law matters.
- Provide expert advice to clients on disputes, claims, settlement options, and litigation strategies.
- Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, tribunal and court submissions, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
- Represent clients in advocacy, including court hearings, tribunals, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
- Ensure strict adherence to procedural rules, court directives, and regulatory requirements.
- Build and sustain strong client relationships through professional communication and service excellence.
- Contribute to marketing, networking, and business growth initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor paralegals, trainee solicitors, volunteers, and work experience students when applicable.
- Conduct file reviews and prepare reports; delegate tasks and oversee timely and quality completion.
- Support training and development for junior team members.
- Meet established billing, case management, and performance objectives.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Principal Solicitor.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of five years post-qualification experience.
- Proven expertise in litigation, employment law, or both domains.
- Exceptional advocacy, negotiation, and legal drafting capabilities.
- Ability to independently manage client files.
- Experience in supervising and supporting junior staff including paralegals, volunteers, and trainees.
- Strong organizational skills and effective communication.
- Commercially aware with dedication to delivering outstanding client service.
