Health and Safety Manager (Female)

About the Role

Etqan Global Academy, part of Nord Anglia Education in Doha, Qatar, is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager. This role is centered on supporting and enhancing the school's health and safety framework to guarantee a secure, compliant environment for all students, staff, visitors, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and upkeep of the school's health and safety management system, ensuring comprehensive understanding and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Offer practical health and safety guidance to school leadership, operational, facilities, and teaching teams.
• Coordinate and update risk assessments for school-related activities, facilities, educational trips, events, and contractor engagements.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance throughout the school premises.
• Oversee incident and near-miss investigations, determining root causes and recommending corrective measures.
• Assist in developing and testing emergency response plans including fire drills, lockdowns, and medical emergencies.
• Facilitate health and safety inductions, training sessions, and awareness programs for staff and contractors.
• Manage contractor safety compliance and supervise their on-site activities.
• Provide periodic reports on health and safety performance to school and regional management.

Candidate Profile

• Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, such as NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent experience.
• Experience in health and safety roles preferably within education, facilities, hospitality, or healthcare sectors.
• Proficient knowledge in risk assessment, safety inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action management.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Adept at collaborating with diverse stakeholders in a school setting.
• Good IT competency for accurate record-keeping.
• Desirable additional certifications include IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, or Fire Safety training.
• Experience working in Qatar or the Gulf Cooperation Council region is advantageous.
