We are recruiting for a permanent, full-time social worker position at the Manawatū site. This opportunity offers a starting salary in the range of 81,206 to 97,557, with the exact figure determined by relevant experience.

This role is centred on supporting the wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi while working closely with whānau through periods of challenge, change, and development. The work calls for empathy, sound judgement, and a calm, hopeful approach, all delivered with respect for mana.
Key duties
- Carry out detailed safety checks and risk evaluations.
- Facilitate hui with professionalism, confidence, and care.
- Create practical, personalised plans that are strengths-based and culturally responsive.
- Support the mana of whānau in every interaction.
- Partner with iwi, hapū, Māori organisations, community groups, and other government agencies to build lasting and meaningful whakapapa-based connections.

- Current SWRB registration, or the ability to gain it in the near future.
- A recognised qualification in social work.

- A full, clean New Zealand driver licence; historic convictions may be assessed individually.
- A strong commitment to working collaboratively with whānau.
Additional strengths
- Previous statutory social work experience is an advantage, though it is not essential.
- Strong communication skills, resilience, and cultural awareness.
- Knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pasifika cultures.
- Good documentation habits and solid digital literacy.
