About the Role
CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a passionate Social Media Producer & Creator to join the Street Cents team based in Toronto. Street Cents caters to a Gen Z audience with a small, collaborative crew dedicated to innovative storytelling that helps young people make sense of money and life decisions. This fixed-term contract role involves enhancing Street Cents' social media footprint through strategic content scheduling, creation, video editing, and audience interaction, including occasional on-camera segments.
Core Responsibilities
- Plan and distribute content across various social platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, aligning with platform dynamics and audience engagement patterns.
- Create authentic, relatable copy including titles, captions, and social media posts.
- Foster community involvement by engaging in comment sections, sparking conversations, and monitoring trends.
- Leverage analytics and platform insights to guide content creation and distribution strategies.
- Contribute ideas to amplify content reach and audience connection.
- Edit, film, and occasionally present video content alongside Street Cents hosts.
Candidate Qualifications
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing.
- Ability to shoot quality video and audio using an iPhone.
- Experience managing content tailored for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube platforms.
- Strong writing skills with an instinct for genuine and engaging social media language.
- Understanding of discoverability, audience behavior, and ways to boost engagement.
- Comfortable and natural presence on camera.
- Excellent organizational skills to handle details, workflows, and schedules.
- Collaborative mindset, open to feedback and teamwork.
Additional Details
This position operates under a hybrid working model, combining in-office presence at the Broadcast Centre in Toronto and remote work. Applicants must reside within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The role requires three to four years of relevant experience in social media content creation and management specifically targeting Gen Z demographics.
Application Requirements and Process
- Submit links to three recent social media videos you have edited or helped to package, describing your involvement in each.
- Provide a short, informal one-minute introduction video demonstrating your on-camera presence, preferably recorded on a phone.
- Shortlisted candidates may undergo skills assessments, including editing and social media exercises.
- A background check including a criminal record check is mandatory if advancing further.
