Job description

Role overview

West Cirque Construction is a major general contractor delivering residential and commercial projects. The company is looking for an experienced apprentice carpenter / skilled labourer who brings a strong sense of responsibility, works well with others, and can contribute to construction activity across the Saskatoon area.

In this position, you will help drive the successful delivery of homes and commercial builds by contributing practical ideas, supporting day-to-day site execution, and maintaining quality and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Compensation and benefits

The company offers a broad compensation package intended to support employee well-being, development, and financial security. Benefits include competitive wages, extended health and dental coverage, a healthcare and lifestyle spending account, employee assistance support, RRSP/TFSA matching, life insurance, paid training and development, discretionary bonus potential, and additional offerings.

The employer emphasizes work-life balance, team collaboration, and involvement in the communities where it operates.

Key duties

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the selected candidate will help ensure that homes and other project structures meet quality expectations, local building code requirements, and company safety standards. The role also includes general site upkeep and cleanup when needed.

Core work involves labouring and apprentice carpentry tasks on residential and commercial jobs, supporting housekeeping, quality control, and safety efforts, completing touch-ups and repairs on sub-trade issues, and carrying out carpentry tasks that are outside subcontractor responsibilities. The position also requires confident use of power tools such as air nailers, skill saws, and screw guns, along with broader support to the team throughout the project lifecycle. Additional duties may be assigned by the site foreman.

What the role requires

Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience in construction labour and/or carpentry. Background in residential construction is considered an advantage. The role calls for solid spoken communication, familiarity with small tools and power tools, strong organization, a results-driven mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team setting.

A dependable work ethic and a genuine willingness to collaborate are important. The employer also expects a neat, clean, and professional appearance. Candidates must have their own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.

Additional information

The employer states a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace, and encourages applications from people reflecting a wide range of backgrounds.

The company also includes a land acknowledgement recognizing the traditional territories of the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Tsuut’ina, Îyârhe Nakoda, Nehiyaw, Dëne Siné, Dane-zaa, Nakota Sioux, and the lands associated with Treaties 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10. It further acknowledges the long-standing presence and contributions of many First Nations, as well as Métis and Inuit peoples.
