Role Purpose
This position exists to provide general support and relief across line roles, working under day-to-day direction.
Key Duties
- Support housekeeping activities in any part of the facility as assigned by the shift supervisor.
- Carry out cleaning and upkeep for the sawline at least twice during each shift.
- Handle housekeeping for the press pit on night shift.
- Assist with regrading, the paint booth, the strapper, and the sawline when directed.
- Operate mobile equipment, power tools, and hand tools to manage waste and recover usable material, including bark for the bark burner and processed wood from the dryer area.
- Inspect equipment every day to help ensure safe and uninterrupted operation.
- Relieve sawline, strapper, and forklift operators as needed.
- Receive cross-training in other mill positions to help meet operational needs.
- Help reduce unplanned downtime by clearing airlocks, cleaning the wood burner, and completing similar tasks.
- Perform basic light preventive maintenance work.
- Take on additional tasks as needed.
- Follow all safety requirements and workplace regulations in every duty performed.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be organized, comfortable working in a plant setting, and able to follow safety procedures closely. The role calls for time management, familiarity with line-position work, general plant clean-up knowledge, and the ability to read and interpret safety rules.
Experience and Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. At least 3 months of related experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that shows the candidate can handle the main responsibilities of the job.
Work Environment
This is a plant-based role with exposure to sawdust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and other challenging weather or environmental conditions.

Schedule
Shift Utility role with a 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM schedule, working 4 days on and 4 days off.
