About the Role

As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will support the store manager in managing daily store functions during your scheduled shifts. Leading the team, you will coordinate staff assignments and responsibilities to deliver the renowned Starbucks Experience through exceptional customer service, timely service, high-quality beverages and food products, and by keeping the store clean and welcoming. You will embody and promote Starbucks' core values and culture, contributing to a workplace recognized for its positive environment and employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold integrity, honesty, and knowledge that reflect Starbucks' culture, values, and mission.
  • Maintain composure during busy or unexpected situations to ensure store standards are met and to set an example for the team.
  • Stay attentive to customer and store needs by observing cues in the environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the store manager to ensure the team can create a warm and inviting atmosphere each shift.
  • Support new employee training by reinforcing good performance and providing respectful coaching when needed.
  • Offer feedback on partner performance to the store manager.
  • Promote a positive team environment by identifying changes in morale or performance and reporting these observations.
  • Create a supportive learning environment with clear and timely coaching to help partners excel operationally.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service with a customer-first approach and meaningful connections.
  • Identify and address customer needs proactively.
  • Build positive relationships with team members by understanding their motivations, needs, and concerns.
  • Manage store operations during assigned shifts.
  • Handle opening and closing responsibilities as assigned.
  • Adhere to operational policies, including cash handling and safety procedures, to ensure partner safety during shifts.
  • Ensure the shift team follows cash management policies accurately.
  • Monitor baristas to uphold legendary customer service standards throughout the shift.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Prepare quality beverages, whole bean coffee, and food items following recipe and presentation guidelines.
  • Keep health, safety, and sanitation standards for all products.
  • Recognize individual and team achievements using organizational tools and collaborate with the store manager to develop new recognition methods.
  • Use operational resources effectively to achieve excellence during the shift.

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in customer service within retail or restaurant settings.
  • Strong ability to lead and direct others.
  • Quick learner with effective verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with retail environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
