About the role

This store-based leadership role is centered on customers and team collaboration. Working in Tesco stores offers day-to-day variety, shared responsibility, and new challenges, along with opportunities to develop new abilities and grow your career. Working hours and availability

The contracted schedule will sit within the following availability windows:

  • Sunday: 14:15 to 23:15
  • Monday: 14:15 to 23:15
  • Thursday: 05:30 to 14:30
  • Friday: 05:30 to 14:30
  • Saturday: 05:30 to 14:30

The company guarantees at least 16 hours per week, although contracts starting from 12 hours are also available. Shifts will be published at least 3 weeks in advance. If your availability is close to the pattern above, you are still encouraged to apply.

You must be 18 years or older to be considered for this position.

Compensation

Pay begins at £15.59 per hour and increases to £16.86 per hour in stores within the M25. Some locations may include extra payments.

What the role involves

  • Guide the store team to create a strong in-store experience for customers.
  • Work across all areas of the store and act as the first point of contact for everyday operational questions.
  • Build supportive, inclusive working relationships that help colleagues do their best work.
  • Take charge of the store when the Manager is unavailable.
  • Make thoughtful, balanced decisions and respond effectively to changing priorities.
  • Coach colleagues, give constructive feedback, and set the standard for excellent service.
  • Keep looking for ways to improve outcomes for customers, communities, and the environment.

What you need

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Previous experience in a team leader or management role in a busy retail setting is required.
  • You should lead by example and be committed to outstanding customer service.
  • You need the ability to build long-term, positive relationships and contribute to an inclusive team culture.
  • Strong communication skills are important, including the ability to keep colleagues informed through different channels.
  • You should be a confident motivator who can inspire others to deliver excellent results.
