About the Role
Join the Pastoral Organic Dairy team as a Shepherd General, located near Taup4, Waikato District, New Zealand. This drive-in/drive-out position offers a unique chance for both seasoned shepherds and outdoors professionals looking to begin a career in organic farming. You will work alongside the farm manager and receive support for your growth and development as part of a close-knit team managing livestock and pasture on a vast organic dairy farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage livestock and pasture health and welfare diligently
- Carry out general maintenance and perform fencing duties on the farm
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have a passion for farming and animal welfare, enjoy hands-on work with animals, and demonstrate a proactive attitude towards health, safety, and farm asset maintenance. Candidates should be comfortable maintaining accurate records and adapting to farm technology or eager to develop these skills. A valid restricted or full driver's licence is required.
About the Farm
Pastoral Organic Dairy operates over 1,032 hectares across four blocks near Reporoa. The farm supports around 1,000 yearling and 1,400 mixed-age cows in winter and produces organic supplements for affiliated dairy operations. You will be one of three staff members working closely as a wider team dedicated to organic dairy farming practices.
