Overview

Massey University is recruiting a Service Leader for Academic Advice and Information, a full-time fixed-term role until 30 July 2027 based at the Manawatū campus in Palmerston North. This position focuses on guiding a dedicated team to deliver exemplary academic advisory services to prospective and enrolled students, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with institutional priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Academic Advisors and Student Services Liaison Advisors.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive team environment emphasising wellbeing and outstanding service.
  • Use performance data to monitor and enhance service quality and accountability.
  • Guarantee timely and accurate academic advice coupled with effective referral systems for students.
  • Coordinate with Service Leaders and stakeholders across multiple campuses to ensure cohesive service delivery.
  • Contribute to service planning, operational governance, and process enhancements.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a relevant bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
  • Possesses a minimum of five years leadership and management experience within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrates strong skills in coaching, performance management, and people leadership.
  • Experienced in leveraging data and insights to improve service outcomes.
  • Knowledgeable about academic advising or student services, preferably in tertiary education.
  • Highly skilled in stakeholder engagement and communication.
  • Committed to principles of equity, accessibility, inclusive practice, and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
