Job description

Role overview

This position supports the Youth Justice Youth Co Responder team across the regions, with a focus on improving workforce health, safety, wellbeing, and resilience in a fast-moving operational setting.

What you'll do

  • Deliver professional and confidential short-term wellbeing support to Youth Co Responder employees, including help after critical incidents when needed, and arrange referrals to external mental health providers for those who need longer-term or more specialised support.
  • Offer specialist, evidence-based guidance on wellbeing, health, and resilience initiatives for the team, and take the lead or coordinate activities with different stakeholders where necessary.
  • Design, refresh, implement, and deliver staff training, tools, and initiatives that strengthen health, wellbeing, and resilience in a way that fits the Youth Co Responder service model.
  • Strengthen the ability of managers and supervisors to build leadership and supervision practices that promote wellbeing and resilience across their teams.
  • Provide informed advice on workforce development and broader business priorities for regional staff, including the Youth Co Responder management team.
  • Contribute to the review of relevant policies, procedures, and strategic documents as required.
  • Handle conflicts of interest in line with departmental policies and processes.
  • Identify psychosocial hazards in the workplace and work with leaders and the Safety, Health and Wellbeing team to reduce and manage those risks effectively.
  • Show cultural capability, or a clear commitment to building it, so an inclusive workplace is maintained in line with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships that help preserve cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
