Job description

Position Overview

The Senior Executive will be instrumental in supporting the design and implementation of leadership development initiatives targeting young and rising leaders in the Labour Movement. This role focuses on managing programmes for potential union leaders, student leaders from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), and volunteers, alongside overseeing scholarship schemes. Effective project management, stakeholder collaboration, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing committee meetings, leadership workshops, and networking events.
  • Identify high-potential participants and facilitate their growth from active participants to future leadership roles.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, feedback, and programme outcomes to improve future initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal and external parties to ensure committee goals align with union-wide objectives.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts with internal teams to engage student leaders from IHLs passionate about social causes and advocacy.
  • Support the creation and implementation of leadership modules, immersive experiences, and mentorship programs tailored to student interests and Labour Movement principles.
  • Enable meaningful engagements between students and union representatives to foster mutual understanding of labour issues.
  • Provide administrative support including progress tracking and communication management for programme activities.
  • Oversee the entire scholarship process from application to selection, ensuring fairness and accessibility.
  • Design and execute developmental programmes for scholarship recipients emphasizing leadership exposure and community involvement.
  • Maintain communications with educational institutions and applicants to facilitate scholarship renewals.
  • Organize award ceremonies and promotional events to highlight the scholarship programme’s impact.
  • Monitor scholarship awardees' progress and promote alumni engagement to support long-term ties with the Labour Movement.
  • Maintain an up-to-date volunteer database tracking their participation and contributions.
  • Support the planning and implementation of volunteer engagement activities including training, recognition, and placement.
  • Help devise strategies to sustain volunteer involvement and foster deeper commitment to the Labour Movement.
  • Coordinate volunteer placement in collaboration with other departments to maximize impact.

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Policy, or related discipline.
  • Between 1 and 3 years of experience in community engagement, programme coordination, or leadership development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging a variety of audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • A genuine passion for nurturing emerging leaders and contributing to the goals of the Labour Movement.
