Role Overview

The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Marketing will oversee the entire marketing department of Instructure, a company nearing $1 billion in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR). This high-level leadership position entails driving marketing as a vital commercial engine that directly impacts business outcomes. The SVP will report to the President of the Global Commercial Organization and collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Success leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the overall enterprise marketing strategy aligned with Instructure’s business objectives across Higher Education, K-12, International, and BizGov markets.
  • Guide pipeline generation efforts at scale, managing contribution targets and aligning marketing output with sales and customer success conversions.
  • Own and enhance the Instructure brand and corporate narrative, ensuring it supports commercial goals effectively.
  • Direct international marketing activities, ensuring a strong presence and pipeline contribution in global markets with a culturally aware approach.
  • Personally lead marketing strategy and execution for the BizGov segment in partnership with associated sales and customer success teams.
  • Manage and inspire a diverse, high-performing marketing team with six direct reports overseeing lifecycle marketing, communications, web & digital, and creative functions.
  • Serve as a credible voice for marketing at executive and board levels, translating marketing metrics into business outcomes.
  • Continuously make data-informed investment decisions to maximize return on marketing initiatives, with clear measurement of impact on brand health, pipeline, and revenue.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in B2B SaaS marketing at companies with $300 million ARR or higher.
  • Proven ownership of pipeline generation with involvement in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and accountability for revenue targets.
  • Experience managing multiple marketing disciplines beyond core areas and developing leaders.
  • Background in international marketing and managing multiple geographic markets.
  • Track record of brand and positioning strategies that have led to measurable commercial results.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills suitable for boardroom and sales kickoff presentations.
  • A passion for education and learning is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Personal qualities of kindness, directness, and a sense of humor to maintain a positive team environment.
