Vice President of Finance and Accounting

Position Overview

Chesapeake Search Partners is collaborating with a project-based services company to find a Vice President of Finance and Accounting to join their executive leadership team. This pivotal role reports directly to the CFO and acts as the second-in-command within the finance department. The position provides a strategic opportunity to work alongside senior leadership, enhance and expand the finance operations, and contribute to the organization's sustained expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the finance and accounting departments, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, timely month-end closing, compliance during audits, tax obligations, and maintaining strong internal controls.
• Collaborate with executive leaders to guide strategic business decisions and support organizational growth initiatives.
• Direct budgeting processes, develop forecasts, manage cash flow, and perform comprehensive financial analyses.
• Champion improvements in financial processes and work towards establishing scalable finance and accounting systems.
• Provide leadership, development opportunities, and mentorship to the accounting and finance teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive experience in progressive accounting and finance leadership roles.
• Certification as a CPA is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability leading finance and accounting teams while closely partnering with executive management.
• An active, hands-on leadership approach suited for dynamic, evolving business environments.
• Background in private equity-backed firms, acquisitive companies, or high-growth settings is advantageous.
