Job description
Role Purpose
This position serves as the key interface connecting business operations, technology, and security teams to uphold the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. The role drives efforts to identify and manage cybersecurity risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders to gather security needs across business processes and IT initiatives, enhancing risk management practices.
- Conduct assessments to pinpoint and rank cyber threats that may affect banking operations and data, proposing mitigation plans communicated to senior leadership.
- Work alongside business divisions to design and enforce security policies aligned with the bank’s risk management framework.
- Oversee the deployment, testing, and ongoing evaluation of IT security controls to ensure their efficacy and risk reduction.
- Develop and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness programs to staff, promoting safe online behavior.
- Lead management of complex cybersecurity incidents collaborating with IT and response teams to resolve issues through expert analysis and project oversight.
- Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, advocating for adoption of innovative security solutions.
Director-Level Expectations
- Lead a significant business function contributing to key strategic initiatives and policy formulation impacting the wider function.
- Manage and inspire large teams or sub-functions, embedding a performance-driven culture aligned with corporate values; act as a technical expert and thought leader on large-scale projects.
- Offer expert counsel to senior management and governance bodies, influencing cross-functional decisions and strategy.
- Responsible for resource planning, budgeting, and policy management within the function.
- Allocate and escalate policy breaches appropriately while fostering compliance and regulatory adherence.
- Maintain strong external engagement by monitoring and influencing regulators and advocacy groups as necessary.
- Possess comprehensive sector knowledge and industry best practices supporting strategic decision-making.
- Implement advanced analytical approaches to resolve complex, sensitive problems.
- Exercise managerial authority to make important operational and strategic decisions.
- Negotiate and influence senior stakeholders both inside and outside the organization effectively.
- Serve as a principal liaison for key clients and cross-functional contacts.
- Act as an official spokesperson representing the function and business division.

Key Qualifications and Experience
- Proven record in managing complex, regulatory-heavy projects from start to finish, including business readiness and seamless handover.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including data protection, identity and access management, and cryptographic measures.
- Capability to grasp high-level strategic goals and successfully plan, mobilize, and deliver outcomes aligned to those objectives.
- Proficiency communicating with senior executives including Boards and C-suite, adept at presenting difficult messages using evidence-based insights.
- Adept at operating in matrix organizations with numerous senior stakeholders.
- Resilience and tenacity in dynamic and evolving environments.
- Excellent skills in managing relationships upwards and downwards across CISO, business units, and technical teams.
- Support domain leadership to ensure efficient, effective function operations.
