Role Overview
The Vice President of Global Project Operations Management is a senior leadership position responsible for steering the company’s global project operations strategy, overseeing the Project Management Office (PMO), program governance, portfolio execution, and driving operational excellence. This role ensures worldwide projects are delivered efficiently, consistently, and align with organizational goals, optimizing resources and mitigating risks to maximize business value on an international scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement enterprise-wide project operations strategies that support corporate goals, digital transformation, and growth objectives.
- Create and enforce global governance frameworks, methodologies, and operational standards across all geographic regions.
- Develop scalable project delivery models that enhance execution consistency and organizational agility.
- Align project priorities with overall corporate strategy, investment goals, and business performance metrics.
- Lead Project Portfolio Management (PPM) for strategic initiatives worldwide, prioritizing projects by value, resource allocation, financial returns, and strategic fit.
- Monitor project health and risks, optimizing portfolio investments to maximize enterprise value.
- Direct and standardize the Global PMO governance processes, including adoption of PMI, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, PRINCE2, and hybrid methodologies.
- Implement executive-level reporting and project performance measurement.
- Ensure compliance with governance, regulatory, and internal control requirements.
- Oversee the delivery of complex, cross-functional international projects, enhancing scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, procurement, and operational efficiency to meet timelines and quality standards.
- Manage financial aspects including planning, budgeting, capital allocation, and cost optimization for multiple global programs.
- Enhance workforce usage, vendor relationships, and outsourcing approaches.
- Lead enterprise risk management frameworks to identify and address operational, financial, regulatory, cybersecurity, and geopolitical risks impacting projects.
- Drive digital transformation efforts by implementing PPM platforms, ERP integration, AI analytics, automation, collaboration tools, and executive dashboards to improve forecasting and decision-making.
- Provide leadership and development for regional and program directors, project managers, and operational teams to build high-performing global organizations.
- Manage budgeting for enterprise project operations, partnerships, technology investments, and transformation programs.
- Report portfolio performance, risks, investment insights, and operational updates to executive management and the Board.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, Project Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Preferred MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or Project Management disciplines.
- Preferred professional certifications: PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), or equivalent.
- 15 to 20+ years of progressive leadership experience in global project management, PMO leadership, operations, business transformation, consulting, or enterprise program management.
- Demonstrated success managing large international project portfolios within multinational companies.
- Strong knowledge of project governance, portfolio management, financial oversight, digital transformation, operational excellence, and executive leadership.
- Outstanding skills in strategic planning, communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and organizational leadership.
