Job description
About the Organization
The employer is a long-established specialist in designing, deploying, automating, and supporting large-scale optical transport networks. Over nearly three decades, it has worked with telecom operators, hyperscalers, utilities, and enterprise clients to deliver demanding network infrastructure projects across North America and Europe.
With a team of more than 160 engineers and technical specialists, the company combines deep technical capability with a fast and responsive delivery approach. Its proprietary Factory Built Network (FBN) method is designed to lower deployment risk, speed up implementation, and improve quality by staging and validating work in a factory setting before field installation.
As demand rises for AI infrastructure and high-capacity connectivity, the organization is positioned for its next stage of growth.
Role Overview
This executive leadership role is responsible for guiding the Network Implementation Services function, the company’s largest operational group, and will be part of the Executive Leadership Team. The position reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, with accountability to the Board.
The selected leader will oversee roughly 50 engineers, project managers, and field professionals delivering complex optical networking work across North America and Europe. The role centers on organizational performance, operational excellence, customer delivery, financial results, and long-term division growth.
It is an opportunity to lead a highly respected business and help drive expansion tied to investment in hyperscale data centers, AI infrastructure, telecommunications, and utility networks.
Executive Leadership
- Set the strategic direction for the Network Implementation Services organization and reinforce a culture built on accountability, teamwork, operational rigor, and employee growth.
- Direct, coach, and develop a seasoned leadership group that includes vice presidents, senior managers, project managers, engineers, and field operations staff.
- Strengthen organizational capability through succession planning, workforce planning, leadership development, and targeted hiring.
- Encourage continuous improvement, employee engagement, and disciplined execution across the function.
Customer Leadership
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders.
- Support major strategic opportunities and customer pursuits that require executive involvement.
- Drive high customer satisfaction through reliable delivery and proactive communication.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Telecommunications, Business, or a related field.
The role calls for at least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in telecommunications, network infrastructure, engineering services, field operations, or a closely related environment.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of leading large technical teams with multiple management layers, managing P&L responsibility, controlling operational budgets, planning workforce needs, and supporting organizational growth.
Experience running complex, multi-site deployment or implementation operations for large enterprise or carrier customers is important, along with a strong background in building operating processes, performance measures, and continuous improvement programs.
Preferred Background
- Experience in optical transport networks, especially DWDM, is highly valuable.
- Exposure to telecommunications infrastructure, fiber network deployment, data center connectivity, utility communications networks, network integration services, or professional services organizations is preferred.
- Hands-on familiarity with technologies and platforms from vendors such as Ciena, Nokia, Cisco, Smartoptics, Juniper, Arista, or similar networking providers is an advantage.
Leadership Profile
- A collaborative and genuine leadership style that motivates strong technical teams.
- Solid operational and financial judgment, with the ability to balance customer expectations, employee engagement, and business performance.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with employees, executive leaders, customers, and the Board.
- A structured, data-led approach to decision-making and performance tracking.
- The ability to lead effectively through growth, change, and shifting market conditions.
