About the Department

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Women’s Health in Dunedin is part of the University of Otago's Medical School, one of three such departments alongside Christchurch and Wellington. They uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and aim to enhance health outcomes across New Zealand with a focus on women, youth, and their families/whānau. Role Overview

This Dunedin-based position seeks a qualified healthcare professional engaged in maternity clinical care. The successful candidate will support the undergraduate teaching team, particularly aiding the education of 5th year and final year medical students in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Candidate Profile

  • Must possess a recognized healthcare qualification with an active New Zealand annual practicing certificate.
  • Experience in women’s health is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective tertiary-level teaching.
  • Capability to work independently and proactively while aligning with the department's goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with patients and whānau.
  • Culturally competent with an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and a commitment to promoting equity in medical education and healthcare systems.
  • Proven skill in collaborating with students and colleagues from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.

Additional Details

  • This is a part-time, fixed-term appointment until 31 January 2028, negotiable up to 0.5 full-time equivalent.
  • Location: Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
