About GoFundMe
GoFundMe is a leading global platform dedicated to connecting individuals and nonprofits to enable people to seek help and support meaningful causes safely and effectively. Since 2010, the GoFundMe community has raised over $40 billion to assist millions worldwide.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Social & Community Manager focused on our consumer channels to lead publishing and community engagement efforts. This role involves both strategic planning and hands-on execution to grow GoFundMe’s global community by creating compelling content, managing conversations, and optimizing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, schedule, and publish daily content across established platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Threads, utilizing a variety of formats such as graphics, storytelling carousels, short-form videos, and copywriting—both customized and template-driven.
- Spot emerging trends, fundraisers, and cultural moments for timely engagement and advise on rapid, well-informed responses.
- Lead crisis communications on social platforms during events like natural disasters by coordinating cross-team efforts to highlight relief resources and verified fundraisers.
- Manage a high-volume content program to highlight appropriate fundraisers, coordinating with multiple stakeholders through daily flagging workflows.
- Shape and execute the social media strategy by setting growth objectives, designing and running tests/experiments on various content elements, and leveraging user data for decision making.
- Maintain the social editorial calendar balancing planned campaigns, live reactions, fundraising activities, and cross-team priorities.
- Exercise sensitive editorial judgment for content involving delicate topics such as tragedy, illness, and loss.
- Collaborate closely with video producers on creating impactful short-form videos.
- Monitor comments and direct messages to identify stories to amplify and customer issues to address through support channels.
- Utilize AI technologies (Claude, ChatGPT, internal automations) for content drafting, analysis, and workflow optimization.
- Produce weekly and monthly analytic reports and convert insights into actionable recommendations.
- Partner with other internal teams including Pro Social, Communications, Brand, Creators, Product, and Customer Support to synchronize on fundraisers, key moments, and events.
Candidate Profile
- 5 to 7 years of direct experience managing social media channels for medium to large consumer or B2B brands, media entities, or nonprofits with demonstrable successful results.
- Combination of strategic thinking and practical content creation capabilities focused on audience engagement and growth.
- Proven ability to introduce innovative ideas and creative methods to enhance social media presence.
- Highly connected to online trends, cultural conversations, memes, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Skilled in producing and editing short-form video content natively for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Fluency with AI content creation tools including Claude and ChatGPT, with excitement for emerging possibilities.
- Energetic, curious mindset with leadership qualities to link insights across trends, communities, platforms, and business objectives.
- Strong editorial sensitivity and judgment when handling high-empathy or sensitive subject matter, potentially with newsroom or crisis experience.
- Clear, fast, and platform-specific copywriting skills.
- Comfortable using social media management and analytic tools (examples: Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, platform analytics).
- Self-motivated and proactively communicative in a remote working environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with creators or influencer partnership programs.
- Background in community management.
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations.
- Experience at mission-driven companies, newsrooms, or community platforms.
