Role Purpose
The Senior Regional Investigator in Global Financial Investigations is tasked with independently initiating, planning, leading, and executing thorough probes into allegations of corruption and financial misconduct. Operating with minimal supervision and under the guidance of the Senior Manager for Global Financial Investigations, this role requires comprehensive investigative involvement from data analysis to reporting and follow-up of specific cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and manage investigations related to complex fraudulent activities including corruption, bribery, kickbacks, extortion, conflicts of interest, product substitution, embezzlement, theft, ethical violations, mismanagement, waste, and abuse.
- Compile detailed investigative documents such as plans, engagement memos, formal reports, analytical spreadsheets, presentations, and quarterly summaries; deliver briefings to senior leadership both orally and in writing.
- Conduct investigative tasks encompassing review of Ethics Point data, financial documentation, research activities, surveillance, application of data analytics and forensic computer tools, plus interviews of witnesses and subjects.
- Collaborate closely with investigative personnel across World Vision’s Global Centre, National and Regional Offices, alongside law enforcement, donors, NGOs, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Provide training and mentorship to staff and junior investigators in identifying and investigating misconduct.
- Develop investigative policies and recommend fraud prevention strategies; identify emerging fraud patterns and advise on mitigation approaches.
- Lead investigative teams, supporting capacity building for assigned investigators on projects.
- Ensure alignment of investigative objectives with World Vision 2030 strategy, fostering collaboration among internal and external partners.
- Engage effectively with clients and stakeholders to maintain strong professional relationships and transparency.
- Propose enhancements to investigative procedures and tools based on insights gathered from investigations and allegations.
- Communicate risks and high-profile cases persuasively and in a timely manner to World Vision management.
- Promote a Christ-centered investigative culture within the organization.
Key Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Criminal Justice, Finance, or related disciplines.
- Prior experience with investigations at World Vision International preferred.
- Between five to seven years in professional roles involving investigations, auditing, law, or project management within international organizations.
- Proven expertise in investigative techniques, research, analysis, and computer forensic methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in global environments.
- Completion of relevant certification programs such as law enforcement investigation training, CPA, CIA, CA, and CFE.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages such as Portuguese and local languages are considered assets.
- Understanding of World Vision International’s business procedures and systems is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time domestically and internationally, including potentially to challenging environments.
- Ability to operate effectively under stressful conditions.
