About Kindo and the Role
Kindo is embarking on an exciting growth chapter following a significant $15M Series A investment. The company is well-established with strong product-market fit and trusted by schools and families throughout New Zealand. As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead one of three squads, taking complete ownership of a significant part of the Kindo platform from concept through execution. This role focuses heavily on discovery and leveraging genuine customer insights and data to guide decisions.
Squad Options
- Marketplace: Responsible for the entire buying journey for caregivers, students, and vendors—from browsing and checkout to vendor dashboards and order handling, with the goal of increasing discretionary spending.
- Family Experience: Manages the family-facing app across iOS, Android, and web platforms, covering payments, permissions, calendar, notifications, and family hub features, aiming to boost retention and daily usefulness.
- Financial Systems: Oversees the backend billing and settlement systems, including payments, ledgers, reconciliations, payouts, Xero integration, and the pricing engine used by other squads.
Key Attractions of This Role
- Complete ownership and accountability for the squad’s strategy and results.
- Direct partnership with the Chief Product Officer as a strategic thought leader.
- Engage in building products that have tangible, daily impact on families, students, and schools.
- Work with a modern, AI-supported toolset featuring Claude, Dovetail, Figma, Jira, Notion, and Google Analytics.
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) available.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define and steer the squad’s strategic roadmap and output.
- Conduct ongoing discovery with various stakeholders including caregivers, students, educational institutions, and vendors.
- Translate customer feedback and analytical data into a focused and prioritized product plan.
- Balance trade-offs thoughtfully among speed, quality, and business impact.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to build, release, and iterate products.
- Link product decisions directly to commercial results and monitor delivered features’ success.
- Engage cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, and Finance teams.
- Contribute to elevating the overall product practice within the company.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years experience as a Product Manager managing software products used by real customers under commercial constraints.
- Proven success leading squads, refining focus, and elevating team performance.
- Strong skills in discovery, prioritizing product development based on genuine customer insights, not just stakeholder requests.
- Comfortable using analytics tools and SQL to leverage data in driving product and commercial outcomes.
- Experience with AI tools such as Claude for enhancing product development efficiency and accuracy.
- Specialized expertise in at least one of the following areas: two-sided marketplaces or e-commerce, consumer mobile applications at scale, or billing, payments, and fintech platforms.
- Bonus qualifications include experience in EdTech, FinTech, or NZ/AU consumer SaaS markets, particularly within Series A to Series B scaling companies.
