Job description

About the role

Affirm is changing the way credit works by making it more transparent and consumer-friendly, allowing people to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. The company’s global mission is to build financial products that genuinely improve people’s lives.

To support that mission, the team is strengthening the core fintech infrastructure behind its products so the systems remain scalable, compliant, and ready for fast-paced product development. The organization is seeking a strong product leader to help shape this foundation.

As a Senior Product Manager on the Financial Platforms team, you will operate at the center of the company’s backend financial systems and data stack. Your focus will be on developing essential platform capabilities that support key financial processes and enable smooth integrations across engineering, data, and business functions. The role calls for strong platform product judgment, technical understanding of APIs and data systems, and the ability to work effectively across multiple teams to deliver meaningful outcomes. You will also guide work that improves reliability, scalability, and day-to-day operational efficiency while helping launch new products and support business expansion.

Key responsibilities

  • Address complex and unclear platform challenges by shaping execution plans that balance near-term delivery with long-term value, while driving improvements across important financial systems.
  • Set the direction for platform products and maintain ownership of the roadmap for shared capabilities, integrations, and services that support financial operations and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Data partners to design APIs, data contracts, platform interfaces, and migration approaches that enhance scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Define product goals, work with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to translate needs into requirements, and lead execution through launch for major products and features.
  • Communicate regularly with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams, and present updates and recommendations to senior leadership as needed.

What we're looking for

  • At least 4 years of product management experience, ideally with exposure to platform products.
  • A strongly analytical approach, with the ability to think strategically while also staying hands-on and action-oriented.
  • A solid history of delivering and managing products that created meaningful impact.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills for working with varied stakeholders.
  • Comfort working through incomplete, conflicting, or uncertain inputs and converting them into practical plans.
  • Strong technical depth to participate in detailed technical discussions and form well-reasoned opinions.
  • Either equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

Compensation and level

Pay Grade: N

Equity Grade: 6

Employees who join Affirm typically start at the lower end of the pay range. Compensation is determined using several factors, including location, experience, and job-related skills.

Base salary is part of the overall compensation package, which may also include equity, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology spending, plus benefits such as fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.

Canada base pay range: $153,000 to $213,000 per year.

This role is for an existing opening.

Remote work setup

Affirm operates as a remote-first company. Most positions are remote and can be performed from almost anywhere in the country of employment. Some proximal roles may require occasional visits to the assigned office, while a smaller number of positions remain office-based because of their responsibilities.

Benefits

  • Full health coverage, with Affirm paying all premiums for every level of coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Flexible spending support with generous stipends for technology, food, lifestyle needs, and family-forming expenses.
  • Competitive vacation and holiday time so employees can rest and recharge.
  • An employee stock purchase plan that lets employees buy Affirm shares at a discount.

Accessibility and legal notices

The company is committed to an inclusive interview experience and can provide reasonable accommodations for candidates who need individualized support during hiring.

For certain U.S. locations, qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered in line with applicable fair chance ordinances.

Submitting an application confirms that you have reviewed the Global Candidate Privacy Notice and consent to the collection, processing, use, and storage of personal information as described there.
