Role Overview

The People team at Verkada is essential to company growth, partnering closely with business leaders to cultivate high-performing teams and support rapid scaling. This Senior People Business Partner position focuses on supporting the Sales and Sales Operations & Strategy divisions. You will collaborate directly with senior leadership to develop organizational strategies, lead change programs, and design scalable structures and processes. This role offers a unique chance to influence the development of a rapidly growing sales organization and make significant business impacts.

This is an on-site role based in San Mateo, CA, requiring presence at the office five days per week to sustain a vibrant in-office culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to sales leaders on topics including organizational efficiency, team dynamics, leadership coaching, and talent management strategies.
  • Collaborate with new leaders to evaluate current team structures and performance, designing scalable, high-performing organizations.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, diagnose issues, and guide informed business decisions.
  • Develop and implement talent initiatives such as performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, and leadership growth programs.
  • Provide expertise on complex employee relations cases, lead investigations, and ensure fair and legally compliant resolutions.
  • Assist leaders in navigating periods of ambiguity, organizational growth, and change while maintaining a high-performance culture.
  • Champion organizational transformation activities including organizational design, workforce planning, change management, and evolving operating models.

Qualifications

  • At least six years of experience as an HR Business Partner or People Business Partner, preferably supporting fast-growing go-to-market or sales teams.
  • Demonstrated success working with senior leadership on organizational transformation and scaling challenges.
  • Proven ability to design and enhance organizational structures and effectiveness initiatives.
  • Strong influencing skills with sound judgment and business acumen across all organizational levels.
  • Analytical capability to convert people analytics into practical strategies.
  • Comfort working in environments where People Partners own a wide range of talent, leadership, and organizational projects rather than relying on specialized centers of excellence.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant Master’s degree is a preferred asset.

Employee Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare programs tailored to employee and family needs with premiums fully covered for employees and 80% for families.
  • Nationwide medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer contributions and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options.
  • Expanded mental health support resources.
  • Generous paid parental leave and fertility benefits.
  • Flexible time off including paid holidays, extended firmwide holidays, PTO, and personal sick leave.
  • Professional development stipend to support continued learning.
  • Wellness and fitness benefits including daily healthy lunches.
  • Commuter benefits to ease daily travel.

Additional Information

  • Applicants must be independently authorized to work in the United States as visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Compensation

The annual on-target earnings for this role range from $160,000 to $200,000 USD. This estimate includes base salary and potential commissions or bonuses. Depending on the position, employees may also receive equity compensation through restricted stock units (RSUs).
