Job description
About ACHA Health
Adelaide Community Healthcare Alliance Incorporated (ACHA) is the largest locally based private hospital group in South Australia, managing three major hospital sites: Ashford Hospital, Flinders Private Hospital, and The Memorial Hospital. Operating with a strong community focus under a not-for-profit model, ACHA delivers an extensive array of quality healthcare services including acute medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and obstetrics care. With over 105 years of history and approximately 2,500 employees, the organization is known for its professionalism, empathetic culture, and ongoing dedication to improvements.
For 23 years, ACHA has worked under a management agreement with Healthscope, a national private hospital operator, who has managed many corporate and administrative services like People & Culture and payroll centrally. ACHA is now transitioning to become independently operated, taking over full responsibility for all corporate functions such as People & Culture, payroll, finance, IT, procurement, and other shared services to establish capabilities as a standalone healthcare entity.
Role Overview
As a Senior Payroll Officer reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be the operational backbone of the payroll function for over 2,500 employees. You will manage full payroll processing and play an important role in supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), cleaning payroll data, and conducting parallel payroll runs during the implementation of new Workday and UKG Time & Attendance systems.
Desired Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and motivated, capable of simplifying complex award agreements for staff understanding. Key expertise includes:
- Efficiently handling high-volume payroll processes including complex, around-the-clock rostered payrolls processed fortnightly and manually as needed.
- Strong understanding and accurate calculation of award entitlements such as shift penalties, on-call allowances, overtime, and recall payments.
- Experience supporting system upgrades by participating in data validation, conducting parallel pay runs, and other testing activities.
- A self-driven approach with excellent problem-solving skills, able to independently seek answers without needing close supervision.
Organizational Culture
This position offers a chance to challenge oneself and grow professionally during a significant systems transition. The team values driven, sincere individuals who thrive in cooperative environments and focus on supporting healthcare frontline staff.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary package plus superannuation, aligned with experience.
- Access to not-for-profit salary packaging with FBT exemptions to increase net income.
- Flexible working arrangements available on an as-needed basis within an innovative and collaborative workplace setting.
