Job description
Role Overview
The Senior Officer for Payments Sanctions Monitoring is responsible for supporting the execution of the Bank’s Compliance strategy, focusing on the sanctions payment screening process within the first line of defense. This role ensures alignment with departmental strategies, supervises sanctions risk management, and supports sanctions screening for client transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and support the Group-wide Compliance strategy related to sanctions payment screening, integrating efforts across departments.
- Maintain awareness of the bank’s control environment and work closely with second line compliance teams to identify gaps and manage the Bank’s risk appetite effectively.
- Apply understanding of control testing and monitoring tools aligned with bank objectives.
- Assist business lines in reviewing and screening client transactions for sanctions and AML/CTF risks.
- Assess the effectiveness of product platform screening capabilities in conjunction with bank surveillance systems.
- Identify and recommend continuous improvements in sanctions payment screening systems and processes to enhance compliance efficiency and regulatory adherence across all operational jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with Technology, Data, and Reporting teams in developing KPIs and KRIs and ensuring timely delivery of Management Information relevant to sanctions screening.
- Coordinate reporting standards for international branches consistent with bank requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance, sanctions, AML policies relevant to the bank’s international network, and evolving regulations issued by CBUAE, Executive Office, and international authorities.
- Contribute insights from a Financial Crime Operations perspective to support future updates of FAB compliance policies and guidelines.

This is a part-time, onsite role located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, within First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB).
