About the Role

This senior technical management position involves spearheading the development and integration of applications focused on generative AI capabilities. The role blends oversight of traditional software development with innovative AI deployments, ensuring the delivery of scalable, robust, and cutting-edge enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and development of applications integrating generative AI functionalities.
• Design and implement AI data pipelines supporting text, image, and code generation tasks.
• Develop frameworks and best practices for prompt engineering.
• Manage integration of various AI models and APIs while optimizing performance and costs.
• Define and enforce technical standards promoting responsible AI development, including methods to detect and mitigate bias.
• Provide technical leadership to development teams building AI-enabled applications.
• Evaluate and select suitable AI tools, frameworks, and models for projects.
• Apply AI governance policies and ethical guidelines to development activities.
• Ensure all applications comply with security, performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee AI model evaluation, fine-tuning, and deployment workflows.
• Manage the entire software development lifecycle from gathering requirements, deploying solutions, to maintenance.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver projects within timelines and budget.
• Adapt agile and MLOps methodologies to streamline development and operations.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance applications through generative AI innovations.
• Develop strategic technical roadmaps focused on app modernization and AI integration.
• Research emerging AI technologies and assess potential benefits for the organisation.
• Create strategies for AI model versioning, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
• Engage with business units to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts and project updates to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with vendors and partners to ensure successful solution implementation.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields.
• Professional certifications in AI/ML are a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience in software application development and technical team leadership.
• Minimum 2 years of direct experience working with generative AI technologies.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with large language models (LLMs) and their applications.
• Expertise in prompt engineering and chain-of-thought methodologies.
• Exposure to vector databases and embedding techniques.
• Proficiency in AI model fine-tuning, deployment, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
• Strong foundation in software architecture and system design principles.
• Skilled in Python programming and use of contemporary development frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with leading AI/ML platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Hugging Face.
• Familiarity with cloud services including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure, along with containerization technologies.
• Good understanding of API development, microservices, and system integration.
• Proven leadership in managing technical teams and navigating complex AI projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge and experience in AI governance and ethical frameworks.
• Excellent communication abilities for engaging with varied stakeholders.
• Experience with agile development and MLOps practices preferred.
• Understanding of digital government services is advantageous.
• Additional experience with multimodal AI systems involving text, image, and audio modalities.
• Awareness of AI safety, security standards, and performance optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with AI model evaluation metrics, infrastructure scaling, and cost management.
• Experience in AI-specific quality assurance and testing approaches.
