Job description
About the Role
The Resilience and Engagement Division (RED) is dedicated to enhancing national identity, advancing social cohesion and solidarity, and fostering commitment towards the common good. This is achieved through three main focus areas that impact both local residents and newcomers: nurturing a strong, inclusive national identity; facilitating newcomer integration; and encouraging a volunteering and giving culture.
The SG Cares Office, housed under RED, spearheads the national SG Cares movement aimed at building a caring and inclusive Singapore. The role is critical to shaping and executing strategies in collaboration with multiple stakeholders to promote volunteerism and charitable contributions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting strategic planning and in-depth analysis by reviewing data to detect trends and key issues, evaluating alternatives, and formulating practical plans and medium-term strategies to boost giving and volunteering efforts.
- Developing and sustaining strategic partnerships with entities such as businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations to increase participation in giving and volunteering.
- Overseeing SG Cares Volunteer Centres by monitoring their performance, ensuring grants are utilized effectively, and building their organizational capabilities.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners (including People’s Association, schools, and businesses) to pilot and expand new initiatives, especially those addressing community needs and emergency response.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated 2 to 3 years of relevant experience showcasing problem-solving and critical thinking ability, such as synthesizing complex data, identifying key challenges, and generating data-supported actionable recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, adept at prioritizing key players, maintaining effective cross-sector collaborations, and achieving consensus amidst differing priorities.
- Proficient communication skills, written and oral, capable of adjusting messaging for diverse audiences while balancing strategic insights with operational realities.
- Experience in community service, volunteering, project or event coordination, or public policy/program roles is preferred.
- A proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented individual who fosters good teamwork through trust-building and exhibits high emotional intelligence and relationship awareness.
- Possesses a strong inclination towards action, with a drive to resolve issues, complete tasks, and bring about impactful changes.
