Overview

Join PwC Legal in Auckland as a Senior Manager / Director Tax Lawyer, where you'll contribute to building trust and solving critical problems within society. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply tax law expertise beyond the usual law firm setting, handling high-level advisory matters across New Zealand and internationally. Collaborate with diverse specialists to address complex client issues and create integrated, commercially-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive tax advice, primarily for high net worth individuals and private business clients.
  • Lead and resolve tax audits and disputes with relevant authorities.
  • Assist clients in securing certainty through binding rulings.
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to formulate holistic tax strategies.
  • Stay current with tax law developments and regulatory updates.
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality in all work.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members to foster skill development.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 5 to 7 years of post-qualification practice at a recognized New Zealand law or accounting firm, or within an in-house legal department.
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience in New Zealand tax law.
  • Expertise advising on trusts and managing matters related to high-net-worth families.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to independently progress tasks.
  • Strong commercial insight paired with technical legal proficiency.
  • Consistently deliver well-rounded, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Possess a law degree and requisite qualifications to practice law in New Zealand.
  • Energetic and driven with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities.
