Role Overview
The Senior Legal Counsel & Compliance Manager is the key legal advisor spearheading support across multiple operational regions including India, Singapore, the United States, UAE, and Vietnam. This role encompasses oversight of commercial contracts, dispute resolution, regulatory adherence, employment law, data protection, intellectual property, and strategic legal risk management, delivering actionable legal counsel that fosters business expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, scrutinize, negotiate, and manage diverse commercial contracts such as those involving customers, SaaS, vendors, partnerships, consultancy, services, banking, and financing.
- Develop and maintain standardized contract templates and negotiation guidelines.
- Advise various business teams on legal risks related to contracts and commercial engagements.
- Oversee litigation and dispute processes domestically and internationally, including consumer, employment, TCPA, contractual disputes, arbitration, and court cases by coordinating with external and international legal counsel, managing litigation strategies, evidence handling, discovery, and research, as well as supporting settlement discussions and ongoing case management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws across operational jurisdictions, advising on matters related to data privacy, fintech regulations, and other compliance obligations, while keeping internal policies updated with regulatory changes.
- Provide guidance on employment law issues, human resource policies, employee investigations, and labor law compliance.
- Handle intellectual property matters, including protection, licensing, enforcement, and associated legal affairs.
- Draft and respond to legal notices; collaborate with product, HR, finance, and business teams to provide pragmatic, risk-sensitive legal guidance; support ongoing strategic risk management and governance initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess LL.B. or B.A. LL.B. degree.
- Have over five years of post-qualification experience in corporate legal and compliance domains.
- Prior exposure to managing cross-border legal issues in countries such as India, Singapore, the United States, UAE, and Vietnam is advantageous.
