Job description
Role overview
This position leads a team of Investment Analysts within the Asia Portfolio Management function and supports the oversight, design, and ongoing development of investment portfolios across the AME proposition. The scope includes multi-asset fund-of-funds, discretionary and advisory model portfolios, and regular savings plans, managed across multiple currencies.
The role is focused on strengthening investment decision-making, producing high-quality analysis, and translating portfolio activity into clear reporting and recommendations for internal committees, senior leaders, partners, and clients.
What you will do
- Drive and refine core processes that underpin investment decisions across the AME platform.
- Produce detailed, accurate analysis that improves visibility of current positioning and helps uncover opportunities to support stronger client outcomes.
- Prepare monitoring updates and commentary for tailored reporting to investment committees, senior management, the Partnership, and clients.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations for changes to portfolio positioning.
- Support the monitoring, design, and evolution of SJP AME multi-asset solutions so they continue to deliver strong client outcomes.
- Own and improve key parts of the investment process and framework, with a focus on efficiency gains and risk reduction.
- Review and oversee work from junior team members to ensure reports and analysis meet exacting quality standards.
- Escalate material portfolio and fund-monitoring risks or considerations to the Asia Investment Committee.
- Ensure monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc portfolio and fund reports are delivered on time and that partner queries are handled effectively by the portfolio management team.
- Apply investment knowledge to support daily operational and communication needs across other investment teams, while ensuring compliance issues and unusual matters are identified and flagged.
- Represent the AME Portfolio Management team in group governance forums when required.
What we are looking for
You should bring hands-on experience in fund research and/or portfolio construction, along with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, influence stakeholders, and deliver outcomes under pressure. The role also calls for strong technical capability, attention to detail, and the confidence to challenge and improve existing ways of working.
A deep understanding of financial markets and fund management is essential, as is the ability to explain market impacts clearly to different audiences. Experience with large datasets, process improvement, and advanced spreadsheet and presentation tools is important, and familiarity with programming tools such as Python or R would be an advantage.
People leadership
This role includes direct people management. You will support, coach, and give feedback to investment analysts to strengthen both individual performance and team capability.
Business and stakeholder context
You will need a solid understanding of how Investment Management supports the SJP Partnership, clients, and broader business goals, as well as how different internal teams and operational functions connect. Awareness of the company’s strategy within the wider wealth management industry is also important.
Problem-solving and ways of working
The position suits someone who can think analytically, solve complex issues quickly, work independently, and put forward clear recommendations that help shape decisions. You should also be comfortable balancing competing priorities while maintaining consistently high standards.
Interpersonal and communication skills
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills are required. You will need to adapt your style for senior leadership, investment teams in the UK and Asia, Compliance, and Partners, while helping build a culture of accountability and excellence across the team.
