Role Overview
The Senior HR Business Partner will act as a strategic adviser to Legal, People, and Finance leaders (the G&A functions), guiding organizational design, talent strategy, and cultural initiatives that align with business evolution. The position demands strong HR expertise, sound decision-making, and the ability to manage ambiguity while influencing senior stakeholders.
The role emphasizes leveraging AI to enhance HR and wider business processes, expecting the incumbent to be proficient with AI-driven tools and initiatives within HR workflows and organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate as a strategic advisor to G&A leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategies aligned with business goals.
- Manage complex performance issues, including coaching senior leaders through improvement plans and sensitive terminations, partnering with Legal when necessary.
- Lead change management efforts during restructurings, mergers, and transitions with effective plans that sustain trust and minimize disruptions.
- Support leadership with succession planning, talent calibration, and development of high-potential employees within the client group.
- Utilize data analytics, such as engagement surveys and attrition trends, to diagnose issues, recommend solutions, and collaborate with People Analytics for in-depth analysis.
- Champion enterprise HR initiatives (performance, compensation, engagement) from the G&A perspective and head their implementation within this group.
- Coach managers at various levels on leadership, feedback culture, and fundamental people management skills.
- Work closely with Talent Acquisition on workforce planning and headcount management.
- Exercise independent judgment on sensitive employee relations issues, escalating when appropriate to maintain confidentiality and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Over 8 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years as an HR Business Partner supporting senior leaders in Legal, People, or Finance functions.
- Proven proficiency and personal experience with AI tools enhancing HR workflows, data synthesis, or leadership engagement; hands-on expertise preferred.
- Ability to lead change management effectively, balancing innovation adoption with employee confidence and trust.
- Experience guiding organizational design, workforce planning, and major change initiatives.
- Strong influence and advisory skills with senior executives, handling sensitive or high-stakes issues independently.
- In-depth knowledge of employment law, performance management, and HR best practices, including collaboration with Legal on complex matters.
- Competence using people data and analytics to drive recommendations and impact leadership decisions.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and handling of confidential information.
- Strong communication skills and executive presence, building quick credibility with senior stakeholders.
- Experience with Workday HRIS system mandatory; familiarity with Culture Amp preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range in San Francisco: $165,000 to $194,000 USD annually

Work Location and Culture
Checkr supports a hybrid model expecting employees to work from office at least three days per week at hubs including San Francisco, Denver, Nashville, and Santiago.
