Checkr is developing a data platform that facilitates safe and equitable decisions, trusted by over 140,000 companies and millions of individuals. Their technology supports critical moments like employment, housing, transportation, childcare, and dating. Esteemed clients such as Uber, Pennymac, Airbnb, Doordash, Amazon, and Anthropic count on their AI verification solutions. Recognized by Forbes Cloud 100 2025 and as a Y Combinator 2024 Breakthrough Company, Checkr’s team excels in tackling complex challenges through innovative approaches.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, this role leads Checkr’s most challenging and impactful partnership negotiations. The position involves crafting new and renewing existing agreements that foster sustainable, mutual growth across key strategic alliances. The Account Director will define negotiation strategies for deals that incorporate significant product integrations and incentive designs that promote shared expansion. Collaboration spans across Strategic Partner Managers, Finance, Revenue Operations, and executive leadership within the business development organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Devise comprehensive negotiation strategies for intricate, multi-year partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial long-term commercial terms.
  • Design deal structures integrating substantial product components with aligned incentives to support reciprocal growth for Checkr and partners.
  • Work closely with Strategic Partner Managers to leverage relationship insights and GTM strategies in negotiation approaches, grounded in partnership realities.
  • Create and rigorously evaluate financial models and deal scenarios jointly with Finance and Revenue Operations to quantify trade-offs and clarify negotiation positions.
  • Maintain executive-level consensus within Checkr and partner organizations to streamline decision-making and manage complex relationships.
  • Develop and institutionalize scalable negotiation frameworks and playbooks to elevate the commercial standards for handling strategic partnership agreements across business development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of eight years professional experience including at least four years leadership in complex, high-value commercial negotiations within partnerships, business development, alliance management, or corporate development.
  • Proven ability to structure deals featuring significant product integration elements, negotiating data rights, integration commitments, and technical deliverables as key commercial levers.
  • Experience in renegotiating enduring strategic partnerships by revising commercial terms to strengthen trust, realign incentives, and create enduring mutual value while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Strong financial expertise capable of constructing and stress-testing deal models, interpreting profit and loss implications, and translating sophisticated contract conditions into clear business outcomes in partnership with Finance and Revenue Operations.
  • A commercial approach emphasizing partnership longevity, viewing negotiation as a skill to create mutually beneficial long-term agreements rather than merely closing deals.
  • High-performance mindset with decisive action orientation, persistence amid uncertainty, and accountability in delivering impactful results.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this role in San Francisco, CA, is $238,000 to $280,000 annually, adjusted geographically. Benefits include a dynamic team environment, learning and development funds, competitive salary and equity, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental services up to $25,000, flexible paid time off, and a monthly wellness stipend.

Work Arrangement

Checkr supports a hybrid office culture with hubs located in Denver, San Francisco, Nashville, and Santiago. Employees are expected to work onsite at least three days per week. Onsite perks include frequent lunches, commuter allowances, and abundant snacks and beverages. Relocation assistance may be available for candidates moving to hub locations.
