Job description
About the team
The Cross Border FP&A team is responsible for shaping the financial plan for Shopee’s cross-border operations across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Latin America. The team develops the forecasting models that track orders, GMV, take rates, and P&L, while working closely with business leaders and Group Finance to ensure the numbers reflect the real business picture. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys diagnosing margin movement, explaining near-term outlooks, and identifying where the business should invest next.
What you will do
- Create and continuously refine financial models that support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for areas such as orders, GMV, take rate, and profit and loss.
- Work with business stakeholders to collect assumptions and inputs for monthly budgets and ad hoc forecasting exercises.
- Bring together financial data, review it carefully, and turn it into reliable forecasts.
- Track and analyse key performance indicators to assess financial performance and compare results with targets.
- Study revenue, cost, topline, and margin movements in depth to understand the main drivers and spot opportunities for improvement.
- Review pricing approaches, customer acquisition costs, and promotional efforts to help improve profitability.
- Share insights on business patterns, industry benchmarks, and the competitive environment to support decision-making.
- Prepare financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for management review.
- Write clear commentary on financial outcomes, highlighting major trends and the business reasons behind them.
- Handle ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed.
- Collaborate across functions to keep financial goals aligned with operational priorities.
- Work closely with regional FP&A and Group Finance teams to ensure reporting accuracy and resolve inconsistencies.
- Partner with business leaders to define, monitor, and manage key financial metrics, targets, and initiatives.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree is a plus but not mandatory.
- At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis or business planning, ideally in e-commerce or a similar sector.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the capacity to simplify complex data into practical recommendations.
- Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to different stakeholders.
- A sharp eye for detail, high accuracy, and the ability to deliver under tight timelines.
- Self-driven, with the ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team within a fast-moving environment.
