Job description
Overview
We are looking for a technically proficient and driven Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team within a well-established organization. This role provides a great opportunity to engage in diverse aspects of financial and management reporting, month-end closures, audits, and business support functions.
Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Director, you will be essential in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, meeting reporting deadlines, and supporting ongoing enhancements in the finance department. This position is ideal for a qualified accountant aiming to expand their expertise in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Compile monthly management accounts alongside relevant supporting analysis.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare and review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
- Facilitate the annual external audit process.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with other compliance obligations.
- Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies or variations.
- Help with cash flow reporting and financial planning initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and relevant accounting standards.
- Foster effective working relationships with colleagues across departments.
- Identify and propose improvements for finance processes and reporting mechanisms.
- Contribute to ad hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified accountant holding ACA, ACCA, or CIMA certification.
- Between 3 and 5 years of post-qualification experience in a senior accounting role.
- Solid grasp of financial accounting and reporting principles.
- Experienced in preparing statutory accounts and supporting audit activities.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to financial detail.
- Proficient with advanced Microsoft Excel techniques.
- Familiarity with ERP or other accounting software systems.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships.
- Capable of working independently while also being a positive team member.
