Senior Financial Accountant - Transport & Logistics

Overview

We are recruiting for a seasoned Senior Accountant cum Finance Controller to lead accounting and financial management operations at a reputable logistics firm in Navi Mumbai. The role demands comprehensive handling of accounting functions and rigorous financial oversight within transport and logistics activities, including cash flow, receivables, vendor payments, and trip-specific cost management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive accounting tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and journal entry postings.
• Ensure timely monthly closures and thorough finalization of financial books.
• Maintain strict supervision on customer receivables and conduct proactive follow-ups to reduce outstanding debts.
• Analyze revenue, costs, and profitability on a trip-wise basis, including vehicle and route-specific breakdowns.
• Verify and control payments made to vendors, including fuel suppliers, transporters, and drivers, ensuring expenses align with budgets.
• Plan daily cash flows diligently to maintain uninterrupted operating funds.
• Monitor cash disbursements, driver advances, and finalize trip sheet settlements promptly.
• Oversee billing processes with proper proof of delivery tracking and timely invoicing to clients.
• Collaborate closely with operations teams to facilitate trip closures, ensure billing accuracy, and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Track bank account balances, manage loan and EMI schedules, and oversee overdraft and cash credit utilizations.
• Ensure rigorous adherence to statutory regulations including GST, TDS, and E-way bills.
• Prepare detailed MIS reports covering cash flows, profit and loss analysis, expense monitoring, and variance assessments.
• Instituting stringent internal controls to eliminate financial irregularities and fraud.
• Implement maker-checker protocols for all financial transactions to uphold transparency and accuracy.
• Lead internal and external audits by maintaining proper documentation and compliance standards.
• Supervise, coordinate, and enforce discipline among the accounting team to meet strict timelines.

• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, tax compliance, and statutory regulations.
• Proficiency in Tally and ERP accounting software.
• Advanced Excel capabilities for management information system reporting.
• Strong control orientation and capability to perform under pressure with meticulous attention to detail.
• Exceptionally organized with a zero-error tolerance.
• Effective coordination skills to liaise with operational departments and enforce financial governance.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

B.Com, M.Com, CA Inter, or CA qualified candidates with 10 to 20 years of relevant experience, preferably within the transport and logistics sectors, are encouraged to apply.
