Role Overview

We are searching for a Senior Director of Strategic Finance to spearhead our strategic finance operations and elevate this function across the company. This individual will oversee comprehensive financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making, serving as a trusted partner to the CFO and executive leadership.

Responsibilities extend beyond standard budgeting and reporting to include leading a team engaged in new product financial evaluation, cross-functional data collaboration, strategic initiatives, and company-wide financial planning as the organization scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage the strategic finance team, establishing priorities and scaling the function alongside company growth.
• Partner with the CFO and executive team to shape overall strategy, investment decisions, and business trade-offs.
• Oversee the full financial modeling process and company-wide planning cycles, including long-term plans, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts.
• Deliver detailed financial modeling, scenario analyses, and market insights to support product, engineering, marketing, and sales teams for upcoming initiatives.
• Manage variance analyses against budgets and forecasts, collaborating with leaders to provide insightful decision support.
• Prepare and present board-level financial and strategic reports.
• Coordinate with Accounting on month-end and quarter-end close processes and audit support.
• Lead financial diligence and analysis for potential acquisitions, partnerships, or investments, presenting findings and recommendations to leadership.
• Represent finance in cross-functional strategic planning, objectives setting, and operational rhythms.

Qualifications

• Over 8 years of progressive experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital; experience managing finance teams is required.
• Experience leading company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning in venture-backed or high-growth environments; fintech or consumer subscription/startup background preferred.
• Proven leadership ability with strong executive-level communication skills.
• Advanced expertise in Excel or Google Sheets financial modeling; familiarity with FP&A tools such as Adaptive, Anaplan, Pigment, or AI-driven platforms is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills combined with a strategic perspective.
• Capability to influence and create alignment across organizational levels, including board engagement.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems.
• Strong skills in data visualization and simplifying complex analyses for senior stakeholders.
• A commitment to continuous personal and team development.

Compensation

Greenlight offers a competitive salary aligned with market standards that is influenced by location, experience, and skills. This role’s total compensation package includes a discretionary performance bonus, equity, medical benefits, and a 401(k) match.

Estimated base salary ranges:

• New York, California, Washington: $185,000 to $260,000 annually
• Colorado: $185,000 to $235,000 annually
