Role Summary

The Senior Director, Retail East Coast will lead the commercial success of Diptyque's retail footprint across the Eastern and Central United States and Canada. This position manages a broad, multi-market business and is accountable for delivering durable growth while protecting the brand's premium image. The role reports to the SVP, Sales - Americas.

As part of the retail leadership group, this leader owns business results end to end, sets regional direction, drives execution through Area Leaders and the Store Director of the Madison Maison, and shapes decisions across functions. The position calls for close coordination between brand vision and the in-store experience, with constant attention to profitability, operational rigor, and people development.

This New York City-based role calls for a visible, influential leader who can think strategically, execute tactically, and guide teams across all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of retail performance across the region and ensure the business delivers on growth expectations.
  • Create and roll out regional plans that support sales expansion and profitability goals.
  • Review performance data and business patterns to spot risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Apply disciplined management to sales, labor, inventory, and expenses to improve store productivity and meet EBITDA targets.
  • Work closely with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and expense control.
  • Convert company priorities into practical regional plans that can be executed effectively.
  • Find ways to improve market performance, broaden presence, and strengthen client development.
  • Track the competitive environment and surface insights that help leadership make informed decisions.
  • Support new store openings and help ensure long-term relevance and performance in each market.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Area Managers throughout the region.
  • Set clear expectations for leaders and ensure accountability for performance and business outcomes.
  • Build a strong internal pipeline and prepare future leaders for advancement.
  • Partner with Human Resources on people strategy, organizational effectiveness, and employee relations.
  • Promote a consistent, elevated client experience across every location.
  • Lead clienteling efforts and CRM adoption to deepen client loyalty.
  • Ensure boutiques consistently meet brand expectations for service, storytelling, and visual presentation.
  • Represent the brand as a regional ambassador.
  • Maintain operational standards and brand guidelines across all stores.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to improve inventory movement and in-store efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements that support scale and better performance.
  • Preserve strong visual merchandising standards in line with brand requirements.
  • Review visual merchandising productivity and effectiveness by location.
  • Ensure every location follows company policies, labor laws, and safety requirements.
  • Work with Human Resources on employee matters, performance management, and documentation.
  • Confirm that operational and compliance obligations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Partner with executive leadership to shape regional priorities and broader business strategy.
  • Collaborate across Finance, Marketing, Sales Excellence, Training, and Operations to support business goals.
  • Share field insights and feedback to help inform corporate initiatives and leadership decisions.
  • Serve as the bridge between corporate teams and store leadership, ensuring clarity and execution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 8 to 10 years of relevant multi-unit retail leadership experience overseeing large and complex store networks; background in luxury or premium retail is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading leaders and managing performance across dispersed teams.
  • Strong commercial judgment with experience influencing financial results.
  • Solid capability in operational excellence and client experience delivery.
  • Ability to balance long-term strategy with day-to-day execution.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel and maintain a flexible schedule as required.
