Role Summary
The Senior Director, People Business Partner, operates as the principal strategic HR advisor to the Chief Customer Officer at HubSpot, partnering closely with this pivotal executive leader to influence the trajectory of the global Customer organization.
This senior leadership role involves guiding high-level business decisions regarding organizational strategy, talent management, leadership development, and transformational initiatives. The position supervises a team of senior People Business Partners supporting senior leaders (VP and above) within the Customer org to build leadership strength and organizational competence that accelerates HubSpot's growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Customer Officer, contributing to shaping organizational strategy, leadership quality, and business results across the Customer organization.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a senior team of People Business Partners who support VP+ leaders, fostering excellent partnership and leadership.
- Proactively identify organizational risks and growth opportunities, delivering well-informed guidance and clear perspectives before challenges arise.
- Oversee transformational initiatives within the Customer org involving leadership development, organizational design, and talent strategies that enable scalability and evolution.
- Provide influential counsel to senior leaders, balancing support with constructive feedback to enhance decision-making and outcomes.
- Manage critical people priorities end-to-end, coordinating cross-functional partners to achieve tangible business impact.
- Leverage business insights, organizational data, and commercial knowledge to directly connect people strategies with business performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience partnering with a Chief Customer Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, or similar executive in fast-growing technology companies.
- Strong expertise supporting complex global Sales, Customer Success, or Go-to-Market organizations.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with capability to link organizational decisions to measurable business results.
- Proven skills leading executive coaching, organizational design, succession planning, and enterprise-wide transformation programs.
- Experience building and leading senior People Business Partner or senior HR leader teams.
- Outstanding executive presence, sound judgment, and confidence to influence senior executives through trusted relationships and insightful perspectives.
- Successful track record managing intricate, cross-functional projects with influence, ownership, and operational discipline.
- Adaptability in fast-paced, changing environments, with ability to maintain momentum amid ambiguity and pivot effectively between strategy and execution.
- Exceptional prioritization capabilities to manage complexity and provide clarity for executive partners in uncertain situations.
- Maintains confidentiality, discretion, and organizational sensitivity at all times.
- Preferred: Experience supporting globally distributed teams across multiple regions and leading organizational growth or transformation at scale.
Work Arrangement and Travel
- Primary location: United States, preferably Eastern Time Zone.
- Flexible work style: remote, hybrid, or office-based work options available.
- Expected travel of 25-30% to support executive meetings, team collaboration, and onsite presence within the Customer organization.
Compensation and Benefits
The total cash compensation comprises base salary, potential on-target commission (if applicable), and annual bonuses under company plans. Certain positions may qualify for equity grants via restricted stock units (RSUs) and overtime pay if eligible. Compensation packages are tailored individually based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
The annual cash compensation range is $246,600 to $394,600 USD. Benefits and perks provided aim to support employee growth and well-being.
