Position Overview

This role, offered by a partner organization operating in Canada, invites a seasoned product leader to spearhead a retail product division dedicated to innovating technology for grocery partners. The Senior Director of Product, Retail will oversee the product vision, strategic planning, and development roadmap for a platform aimed at optimizing retail operations by minimizing waste, enhancing operational efficiencies, and generating new revenue streams. The position involves collaboration with teams across product development, engineering, data science, and retail operations, influencing enterprise-level retail partners across North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the retail product strategy, roadmap, and priorities focused on partner-facing applications, onboarding, catalog integration, reporting, and pricing tools.
  • Leverage extensive grocery and retail domain expertise to ensure product decisions align with real-world operational and business demands.
  • Identify and prioritize impactful opportunities grounded in data analysis, customer feedback, and market trends.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a cross-functional team encompassing product managers, engineers, and designers, fostering high standards of execution.
  • Drive critical business metrics including partner adoption, store activations, product engagement, and revenue expansion.
  • Collaborate directly with enterprise retail clients, store personnel, and executive leadership to understand operational challenges and convert them into strategic product initiatives.
  • Support business expansion by delivering product insights, conducting executive presentations, and structuring data-driven value propositions.
  • Streamline activation workflows to minimize complexity and accelerate client onboarding.
  • Work alongside data analytics and machine learning teams to embed intelligent pricing, automation, and AI capabilities within retail products.
  • Cultivate an organizational culture of sound product judgment, experimentation, accountability, and continuous enhancement.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in product management with a minimum of 5 years leading multi-disciplinary teams towards common business goals.
  • Robust experience in grocery, retail, or retail technology domains, with insight into merchandising, store operations, inventory management, catalog data, and enterprise decision-making.
  • Proven ability to formulate product strategies, oversee complex roadmaps, and deliver quantifiable business impact.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-centric approach to validating and prioritizing product opportunities.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and launching products from conceptual stages to widespread adoption.
  • Experienced in engaging with enterprise customers and senior leaders to resolve operational challenges via scalable solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities with persuasive influence.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, lean environments requiring a hands-on and collaborative approach.
  • Familiarity with retail technologies including pricing optimization, inventory systems, catalog management, or operational workflow solutions is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience with AI-driven product development, automation, machine learning technologies, or large language model applications.
