About the Role
The Senior Director of People, Culture and Development at Nevada Donor Network is integral to advancing the organization’s mission and strategic goals by overseeing all human resource functions. This senior leadership role involves directing and coordinating people management activities to optimize human resource utilization while ensuring smooth operation of all people, culture, and development (PCD) areas.
Responsibilities
- Serve on the Senior Leadership Team, providing expert advice and oversight on talent acquisition, orientation, training, employee relations, HR policies, legal compliance, retention, compensation, HRIS management, and benefits administration.
- Collaborate with management and PCD staff to develop, communicate, implement, and monitor new or enhanced policies and programs approved by leadership and the Board.
- Foster a positive environment with proactive employee relations practices, balancing advocacy for both employees and the organization.
- Develop and maintain competitive employee compensation and benefits structures including health, dental, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans, ensuring timely employee enrollment and accurate records management.
- Lead annual benefits activities such as open enrollment to meet organizational needs cost-effectively.
- Create and sustain a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program with related policies and trainings across the organization.
- Design and manage succession planning, working closely with department leaders to identify and prepare internal candidates for advancement.
- Oversee talent acquisition and retention strategies and the employee safety program in compliance with OSHA and industry requirements.
- Ensure proper employee screening, legal compliance with federal and state HR laws (EEOC, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, etc.) and guidance to leaders on position descriptions and recruitment approaches.
- Manage employee training, performance evaluations, disciplinary processes, and resolve employee relations issues from start to finish, including communication with insurance and legal partners to mitigate risks.
- Administer the annual performance appraisal process and provide departmental reporting as requested.
- Support directors in strategic planning and partner with the Senior Leadership Team on organizational strategy and employee morale enhancement programs.
- Update and maintain PCD policies and procedures according to industry standards and ensure compliance with relevant accreditation and regulatory bodies such as CMS, AOPO, AATB, EBAA, UNOS/OPTN, ASHI, and Medicare.
- Supervise PCD staff evaluations and disciplinary actions and oversee organizational training initiatives, ensuring completion of mandatory trainings (OSHA, harassment prevention, driver safety, etc.) for all employees, including new hires and periodic check-ins on competency.
- Collaborate on workplace violence and harassment prevention programs and represent the organization at unemployment hearings when necessary.
- Assess organizational needs and legal risks, provide management counsel related to employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and terminations, and conduct HR law and practices training for new managers and supervisors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Five to ten years of related management experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
- Certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is preferred.
- Experience in non-profit organizations, Medicare, or healthcare sectors is advantageous.
