Senior Director of Compliance & Ethics

Role overview

A major global energy organization is looking for a Senior Director of Ethics & Compliance to guide and strengthen its international compliance framework. The role will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on regulatory, risk, and ethics matters across worldwide operations.

What you will do

• Steer and expand a global compliance program, including policies, governance structures, and internal controls.
• Run risk reviews covering anti-corruption, trade compliance, privacy, and emerging technology concerns.
• Own third-party risk management, due diligence processes, and anti-bribery controls.
• Handle investigations, hotline cases, and corrective action follow-up.
• Design and deliver training while helping reinforce a strong integrity-led culture.
• Provide guidance on trade compliance, data privacy, investigations, and governance for AI-related issues.
• Create leadership reporting, performance metrics, and dashboard-style updates.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance into day-to-day business operations.

What we are looking for

• A Juris Doctor degree is required.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience, including prior experience at a law firm.
• Demonstrated leadership in global ethics and compliance programs.
• Strong subject-matter knowledge in anti-corruption, trade compliance, privacy, and third-party risk.
• Background working in complex multinational settings or technology-focused environments.
• Experience in fast-scaling organizations is a strong advantage.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management ability.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
