Job description
Role overview
Marsh is looking for an experienced professional to join its Employee Benefits team in a Senior Client Executive capacity, focused on the international student portfolio. This position is based in the Auckland or Wellington office and follows a hybrid pattern, with at least three days each week required in the office.
In this role, you will serve as the primary people-risk adviser for international student clients, handling end-to-end client service, advisory support, claims advocacy and relationship development. You will also act as the specialist for international student insurance, partnering with business development, placement, underwriting and claims teams to strengthen and retain important accounts.
Key duties
- Serve as the subject-matter specialist and people-risk adviser for the international student portfolio, while developing and sustaining strong relationships with clients and sector contacts.
- Manage the full client lifecycle, including relationship management, service delivery, advisory input, renewal coordination and advocacy on student claims.
- Spot and pursue growth opportunities across the portfolio with the business development team, while consistently achieving retention and revenue goals.
- Run training sessions for large groups during client induction programs when needed.
- Handle significant or complex claims, support fair settlement discussions, and act as an intermediary between the client and insurer.
- Take ownership of administrative and technical processes such as policy set-up, enrolment data collection, annual pricing renewals, insurance manuals, system maintenance and reporting, ensuring all work aligns with internal procedures and Errors and Omissions standards.
Requirements
- Experience in travel insurance, medical insurance, education, medicine, or life and health employee benefits, along with strong product understanding and a customer-focused approach.
- Well-developed written and verbal presentation abilities, strong attention to detail, and the capacity to balance multiple priorities in a collaborative team setting.
- Willingness to complete all required online learning modules for MMC and related subsidiaries and to follow professional and compliance requirements.
- Level 5 Accreditation in Life & Health, or active progress toward completing it.
- Proven client-facing experience and relevant industry networks, with the resilience, empathy, boundary management and stakeholder skills needed to succeed.
- Practical sector expertise and a proactive, growth-oriented mindset that helps deliver results quickly and identify new opportunities.
