Job description
Role overview
Marsh is looking for an experienced professional to join its Employee Benefits function in a hybrid client-facing role. The position can be based in the Auckland or Wellington office, with an expectation to work from the office at least three days each week.
In this role, you will be the primary people risk adviser for the International Student client portfolio. The job covers end-to-end client ownership, including relationship management, advisory support, claims advocacy, and help with retaining and expanding key accounts. You will also serve as the go-to specialist for international student insurance and work alongside business development, placement, underwriting, and claims teams.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the specialist people risk adviser for the International Student portfolio, while building durable relationships with clients and wider sector contacts.
- Provide complete client service across relationship management, customer support, advisory work, renewal handling, and claims advocacy for students.
- Spot and pursue revenue growth opportunities in partnership with the business development team, while consistently working toward retention and revenue goals.
- Run training sessions for larger audiences when needed, including delivery at client induction events.
- Handle large or complex claims, support fair settlement discussions, and represent the client’s position with the insurer.
- Oversee administration and technical processes such as policy setup, enrolment data collection, annual pricing renewals, insurance manuals, system records, and reporting, while staying aligned with internal procedures and Errors and Omissions obligations.
What you will need
- Experience in travel or medical insurance, education, medicine, or life and health employee benefits, backed by solid product knowledge and a strong customer-first approach.
- Well-developed written and verbal presentation skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a team setting.
- A willingness to complete all required online training for MMC and its subsidiaries, together with a commitment to professional standards and compliance processes.
Preferred profile
- Level 5 Accreditation in Life & Health, or active progress toward completing it.
- Proven client-facing background and sector connections that show resilience, empathy, clear boundary management, and strong stakeholder handling.
- Practical sector expertise that allows you to contribute effectively from day one.
- A growth-oriented mindset with a proactive, solutions-driven approach to spotting opportunities and delivering measurable results.
Why this role stands out
- Access to professional development, interesting work, and supportive leadership to help you perform at your best.
- A lively, inclusive workplace where you can collaborate with skilled colleagues to build new solutions and make a difference for colleagues, clients, and communities.
- The scale of the organisation creates broad career paths along with benefits and rewards that support wellbeing.
