About the Role
Join Jacobs as a Senior CAD Technician dedicated to streets and active travel schemes, based in Dublin. This role focuses on delivering precise and innovative CAD solutions for urban roadways, cycling and walking infrastructure, bus priority corridors, and enhancements to public spaces. Your technical expertise will directly influence community safety and urban mobility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings supporting all project phases from feasibility through construction, including general arrangements, alignments, cross sections, detailed designs, junction layouts, traffic management plans, and signing and lining documentation.
- Apply industry standards such as DMURS, TII Publications, NTA Active Travel Design Guidance, and local authority requirements to ensure all drawings meet compliance and quality expectations.
- Coordinate mapping, surveys, and background data to maintain accurate project information.
- Lead self-reviews, peer checks, and ensure CAD deliverables are accurate and error-free before issuance.
- Synchronize CAD data across interrelated disciplines including drainage, lighting, landscaping, traffic signals, and structural elements to prevent design conflicts and maintain project coherence.
- Support design managers and engineers by translating conceptual ideas into tangible drawings.
- Manage drawing registers, submissions, revisions, and assist with audits and technical reviews.
- Provide informal mentorship to junior CAD technicians and promote best practices to improve team efficiency and quality standards.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a CAD Technician working on roads, streets, or urban infrastructure projects.
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D are essential.
- Background working on active travel, public realm, or urban street design assignments.
- Strong comprehension of road layouts, junction geometry, level surveying, cross sections, and construction detailing.
- Ability to deliver precise work under tight deadlines and manage numerous drawing packages concurrently.
