Role Summary
The Senior Buyer will drive seasonal buying strategies for assigned product categories within the fashion retail sector. This includes assortment and quantity planning, vendor liaison, inventory oversight, and close monitoring of performance metrics to ensure availability and commercial success. The role demands collaboration with design, sourcing, planning, and retail divisions to translate market insights into effective product assortments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Buying Head in crafting seasonal assortments by analyzing past sales data, current market trends, and consumer tastes.
- Participate actively in range reviews and finalizing product assortments.
- Manage timely execution of the buying calendar, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure deadlines and milestones are met.
- Liaise with vendors and sourcing teams regarding purchase quantities and delivery timelines, monitoring orders to ensure quality and schedule adherence.
- Evaluate inventory status, identify trends such as slow or fast-moving items, and recommend adjustments for optimal stock levels.
- Analyze sales and category performance regularly to generate insights aimed at enhancing productivity.
- Support in-season trading activities by collaborating with design, planning, sourcing, retail, and visual merchandising teams to ensure successful product launches and align category plans with buying goals.
- Maintain thorough buying documentation and propose process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications
- Graduate or Master's degree in any relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in buying roles, particularly within fashion or retail domains.
