Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director of Procurement for Food & Beverage, the Buyer will oversee daily purchasing, sourcing, and inventory management for all food and beverage operations across various MSG venues including Madison Square Garden Arena, Radio City Music Hall, The Beacon Theater, The Chicago Theater, and the Knicks and Rangers Training Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out tactical purchasing of food, beverage, and paper/packaging products for all venues.
- Review requisitions from multiple sites and formulate cost-efficient buying strategies.
- Utilize Eatec, MSG's inventory and procurement system, to place orders and maintain updated product data.
- Resolve delivery-related issues promptly, including addressing shortages and stockouts.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with vendors to guarantee steady product availability and excellent service.
- Assist with the vendor bidding process by supporting bid evaluations, RFPs, and vendor selections.
- Set and manage par levels to maintain optimal inventory.
- Forecast product needs based on event schedules and consumption trends.
- Identify and onboard new vendors and products to meet operational objectives and improve offerings.
- Work collaboratively across departments such as Warehouse, Culinary, Operations, and Accounts Payable to coordinate procurement efforts.
- Handle invoice and credit reconciliation to ensure accurate financial documentation and address discrepancies.
- Maintain high standards of appearance and presentation while delivering exceptional service experience to guests, partners, and team members onsite.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, foodservice, or a similar field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
- Familiarity with inventory and purchasing software; experience with Eatec is beneficial.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including capabilities in data analysis and reporting.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated history of cultivating fruitful vendor partnerships.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food, beverage, and paper product categories.
- Sharp analytical aptitude with the capacity to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
- Availability to work during weekends as required.
Compensation and Growth
