Position Summary
The Senior Business Development and Label Manager role focuses on talent acquisition and partnership development across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific region. The successful candidate will craft and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and build a structured plan targeting key artists, labels, and catalogues. This role demands a deep understanding of local industry dynamics, strong professional networks, and a thorough grasp of regional music consumption trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure and negotiate agreements with artists and labels aligning with company growth objectives and KPIs within the designated territory.
- Continuously develop and manage a prioritized pipeline of artists, labels, and catalogue opportunities.
- Exhibit in-depth knowledge of major streaming and digital platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, TikTok, along with emerging services.
- Collaborate with label partners, artists, and internal teams to formulate strategies that maximize revenue from both new releases and existing catalogues.
- Advise stakeholders on market opportunities for commercial, marketing, and promotional initiatives.
- Leverage data, market intelligence, and analytics to identify and present opportunities for business expansion.
- Coordinate cross-functionally and internationally to capitalize on prospects arising outside the local market.
- Represent the Australia and New Zealand region within the global business development team.
- Provide leadership and regional support, contributing to international company initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in music industry roles such as A&R, business development, or contributing to label growth, artist management, distribution, or related sectors.
- Strong commercial and financial savvy, with a proven history of meeting or surpassing revenue and profitability targets.
- Demonstrated success in business development within the music industry, particularly in label or artist acquisition/relations at distributors or similar organizations.
- Well-established industry connections with artists, managers, digital service providers (DSPs), and partners, backed by a record of effective execution.
- Expertise in prospecting, relationship management, creative deal negotiation, and contract structuring.
- A degree in music business, business, finance, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience is also valued.
- Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.
