Job description

Role overview

Air New Zealand is looking for two seasoned Senior Business Analysts to support major transformation work as the airline continues building a more advanced digital future. These contract positions run for six months and are based in Auckland, New Zealand.

The work spans two important change programmes: improving retailing and customer commerce capabilities, and strengthening invoicing and financial servicing capabilities. The role sits at the crossroads of strategy, business change, technology, and operations, with a strong focus on helping teams work through complexity and deliver outcomes that matter to customers and the business.

Because Air New Zealand operates in an agile environment at enterprise scale, priorities may shift as strategic needs evolve. As a result, the scope of work may extend beyond these specific programmes and into other high-impact transformation activity.

Air New Zealand highlights its culture, service focus, and innovation, and positions itself as one of New Zealand's most attractive employers. The successful candidate will contribute to solutions that affect millions of customer journeys each year.

What you'll do

  • Break down complex business problems and uncover opportunities that create value for customers and the organisation.
  • Carry out structured discovery and analysis across customer, commercial, operational, and technology areas.
  • Assess different options, associated risks, and trade-offs to support strong decision-making and investment choices.
  • Bring together a range of stakeholders and build alignment so work can move forward efficiently.
  • Shape future-state capabilities, processes, and working methods that support long-term success.
  • Promote value-focused delivery through clear prioritisation, outcome definition, and slicing of value into manageable increments.
  • Create clear links between strategic goals, measurable outcomes, and delivery decisions.

Success in this position means helping teams make better choices, improving delivery performance, and supporting transformation efforts that deliver durable value for customers and the business.

What we're looking for

  • Substantial experience working as a Business Analyst in complex transformation or change settings.
  • Strong ability to solve problems in a structured way and apply critical thinking.
  • Experience analysing difficult business, customer, operational, or technology challenges.
  • Confidence in weighing alternatives and making evidence-based recommendations.
  • Capability to facilitate workshops and influence senior leaders.
  • Well-developed relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience collaborating across both business and technology teams.
  • A mindset centred on value, outcomes, benefits, and measurable impact.
  • The ability to translate strategy into practical delivery decisions.

Experience in the following areas would be an advantage: digital transformation programmes; retailing, eCommerce, or customer commerce platforms; finance, invoicing, accounting, or servicing capabilities; API, integration, or platform modernisation work; and airline, travel, or transport sectors.

Additional information

There are two vacancies for this opportunity. Both roles are six-month contract positions. Applications close on 30 June 2026.
