Role overview

Beca is looking for an experienced structures asset management professional to join its growing civil structures team in Hamilton. The position sits within a respected bridge and structures asset management group that works across multiple offices to care for some of the country’s oldest and most heavily used bridges. Along with technical responsibility, this role may also grow into a team leader position, where you will guide and develop others with support from regional and national colleagues.

You will support a broad portfolio of projects for long-standing clients, working directly with them to understand priorities and shape practical solutions that extend the service life of existing bridges and improve resilience. The role includes leading contracts and packages of work for clients in Waikato and across the North Island, making it a strong opportunity for someone who wants to influence the future of New Zealand’s infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with clients to understand their long-term priorities and key business drivers.
• Lead and coach team members to support their growth and development.
• Oversee the delivery of structures management programmes, including maintenance and upgrade work.
• Apply strong civil and structural engineering knowledge with a focus on asset management.
• Manage, assess, and strengthen existing bridges where applicable.
• Build productive internal and external relationships that improve delivery outcomes.
• Take responsibility for contracts and work packages for existing clients in the Waikato region and the wider North Island.

Requirements

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering field.
• At least 6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in client-focused asset management.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or active progress toward chartership.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a close-knit team.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with wider business teams.
• Preference for candidates with experience in assessing, managing, and strengthening existing bridges.
