Job description
Role Overview
This position is focused on carrying out and, where needed, leading audits across Investment Banking, Wholesale Banking Coverage, Products, and credit-related activities within the FAB Group. Hands-on exposure to transaction banking and credit risk management would be beneficial. The job calls for a solid grasp of corporate banking relationships, business and product knowledge, credit risk practices, and the regulatory frameworks applicable in the UAE and other regions where FAB operates.
The role is meant to strengthen management assurance by spotting control weaknesses, escalating major audit issues without delay, and working with stakeholders to agree practical corrective actions. It also serves as a key point of contact for management in IB, WB, and Credit areas, helping drive improvement through advice and regular engagement. In addition, the role supports the SVP/VP/Head of Audit/VP & Senior Audit Manager on matters that affect the wider FAB Group and may also contribute to special investigations and other assigned reviews.
Strategic Contribution
- Support audits covering FAB Group’s Investment Banking, Wholesale Banking, Global Transaction Banking, Global Corporate Finance, and credit / credit risk functions across the UAE and the wider international footprint.
- Ensure audits are performed in line with the approved annual plan and that the related work program is completed efficiently, ideally on or ahead of schedule; promptly alert the Head of Audit to any likely delays or plan changes.
People Management
- Guide junior team members, provide practical on-the-job coaching, and share knowledge to help the team meet objectives and complete work in an organized and policy-compliant way.
- Encourage and model the bank’s values and ethical standards to help sustain a strong, values-led culture.
Budgeting and Financial Performance
- Track performance in assigned areas against budget and ensure work is carried out within approved guidelines, while escalating any material variances to management.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Carry out all work in accordance with GIA policies, guidance notes, procedures, and practice notes, while contributing ideas to improve GIA methods in line with industry expectations and regulatory standards.
- Review activities across the IB and WB portfolio, along with credit and credit risk activities in all relevant jurisdictions, to help define and keep the Audit Universe current and complete.
- Create and maintain risk assessments for each process stream in the IB, WB, and Credit portfolio, including applicable subsidiaries such as international entities, and work with business teams to encourage regular self-assessment of risks and controls.
- Set up and update audit programs in the central audit management tool.
- Perform audits to determine whether line management has properly identified and classified risks, whether governance/risk/control arrangements are effective and efficient, whether enhancements are needed, whether data and transaction processing is reliable and secure, whether assets are protected, and whether resources are used efficiently.
- Review draft worksheets and reports prepared by auditors, finalize them appropriately, and ensure audit worksheets and reports are discussed with GIA management or clients and completed within three weeks after fieldwork, including agreement of a documented management action plan.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements in processes and practices by identifying change opportunities and responding proactively to shifts in business conditions and global standards.
Relationship Management
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while upholding high business ethics and responding quickly to critical matters to support effective service delivery.
- Serve as an audit business partner for line managers in IB, WB, and Credit teams, holding regular meetings to surface emerging risks and discuss gaps between audit observations and the business’s own risk and control assessments.
- Provide ongoing governance, risk, and control advice to unit management so they can strengthen processes using market best practices.
- Track open audit issues continuously with unit management and ensure corrective actions are properly completed and closed.
- Handle investigations and special reviews assigned by the Head of Audit / GCAO.
Reporting
- Prepare all required functional reports on time, accurately, and in line with group policies, standards, and quality expectations.
Additional Information
This role requires broad audit coverage across investment banking, wholesale banking, products, and credit-related activities, with exposure to UAE and international regulatory environments. The position includes both operational audit execution and advisory responsibilities, along with support for special reviews and investigations as assigned.
